Colleen BrownBorn and raised on the east coast of Australia, I came to live in the Midwest USA in 1997.  I proudly became an American Citizen as of May 2004. I have drawn all of my life and used to get into trouble at school for drawing in the margins of my books when I should have been concentrating on math or something similar.

I attended design classes at Newcastle University then followed with three years of study in the education field. After transferring to the US, I found a huge need for computer professionals so applied my past studies to a degree in computer science, more specifically web design where I can utilize my love of graphic images and color theory. My love of art however has proven stronger than anything else and I am finding myself spending more and more time in my home studio.

My formal studies in art began with Nan Rogers (Australia), concentrating on oil media and landscapes. Then once my two daughters came along I found that watercolor was much less messy to have around.   I have taken many workshops and studied with some of the "big name" artists in the areas of pastel, watercolor, oil pastel, color theory and much more.  I find attending workshops and seminars very inspiring and an esssential part of my ongoing art education and continued growth as an artist.  I have a huge library of art books and many other non-fiction topics which are endlessly fascinating to me.
I am working on building a body of work in oil as well as more pastel pieces and will be participating in many outdoor festivals and exhibitions.  For me, art is a passion and I am always drawn to try something new. Who knows what might be next!! Stay tuned!!
